What are the Pull Rates?
Pull rates in Destined Rivals are almost identical to what we saw in Journey Together
The biggest difference isn’t the odds themselves, but the size of the set — with nearly twice as many Secret Rares, finding a specific chase card is tougher. On average, you’ll see Double Rares about 1 in 5 packs, Ultra Rares 1 in 16, and Illustration Rares 1 in 12, which keeps the packs feeling rewarding. Special Illustration Rares are still a challenge at about 1 in 94 packs, and Hyper Rares are the hardest pulls of all at around 1 in 149 packs. So while the overall hit rates haven’t really changed, the expanded checklist means chasing down your favorite card will likely take more time (or a singles purchase).
Is Destined Rivals Worth it?
TL;DR: We were disappointed by the absence of Team Rocket icons, Jessie and James, but it’s still a solid set with some amazing artwork to chase!
This set leans hard into style and theme. Team Rocket shows up in some of their best cards yet, with Giovanni, Crobat, and Mewtwo all looking straight out of a movie poster. Cynthia fans will be thrilled too, with Garchomp ex making a dramatic return, while other trainers and Pokémon get art that feels equal parts nostalgic and fresh.
The pull rates are about the same as Journey Together, which means you’ll get a steady drip of hits, but chasing a specific card can feel tricky with so many Secret Rares in the pool. Still, opening these packs is a lot of fun thanks to the variety—sometimes you hit something flashy, sometimes it’s a card that just makes you smile because of the art.
If you’re chasing that one grail card, singles might be the way to go. But if you just enjoy the ride, Destined Rivals delivers plenty of excitement and some seriously beautiful cards along the way.
