What are the Pull Rates?

With Black Bolt and White Flare, it feels like every other pack has something special inside.

Around one out of every two packs of Black Bolt or White Flare will give you a hit. That is, when you count Secret Rares plus the Poké Ball and Master Ball reverse foils (these foils show up at Prismatic Evolutions–like rates and now appear alongside Illustration Rares). Illustration Rares pop ~1 in 6 packs, which is about twice as often as Scarlet & Violet base (1 in 13) and Destined Rivals (1 in 12)—but because there are so many different IRs, pulling a specific one is still tough.

The new Black White Rares (Zekrom ex, Reshiram ex, and the two red Victini) are the big chases—none showed up in 700+ packs, so the exact odds are unknown but clearly very rare.

Final Thoughts

Is Black Bolt Worth it?

TL;DR: If you love collecting Unova Pokémon, amazing artwork, the solid chances at good pulls in Black Bolt makes it a worth-while set!

Black Bolt is White Flare’s twin set, and it’s packed with Unova favorites. Zekrom ex takes the spotlight as one of the new Black White Rares, and Victini shows up again here as another big chase card. On top of that, the set is filled with Illustration Rares that showcase the region’s Pokémon in fresh and fun art styles, plus those Poké Ball and Master Ball foils that make opening packs feel extra rewarding.

The pull rates are super generous — you’ll find an Illustration Rare about once every six packs, which is much better than earlier Scarlet & Violet sets. Still, Special Illustration Rares are tougher to hit, and the new Black White Rares are so rare they didn’t even show up when The eBay Authentication Center in Kentucky opened over 350 booster packs of Black Bolt and more than 350 booster packs of White Flare.

All in all, Black Bolt is an exciting one to open.
