Chilling Reign storms the TCG with the debut of Calyrex VMAX in both Ice Rider and Shadow Rider forms, alongside the legendary birds of Galar. Did you know? many collectors nicknamed it “Chilling Pain” because of its notoriously tough pull rates — making those alternate arts feel even more rewarding to hit. Final Thoughts

Is Chilling Reign Worth it?

TL;DR: 100% — if alternate arts and legendaries are your thing, Chilling Reign is one you don’t want to skip.

It’s packed with them: the Galarian Birds (Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres) all got stunning alts, plus big hits like Blaziken VMAX with its wild comic-book style and the Calyrex rider forms.

But do be warned, the set earned the nickname “Chilling Pain” because pull rates can be tough, so it’s not always the most rewarding to rip lots of packs. But for collectors who love standout artwork and legendaries, it’s one of the most memorable Sword & Shield sets — and those alternate arts are centerpiece-worthy in any binder.
